About Me
I’m Julie Cosa, founder of Scenic Hills Senior Placement. As a registered nurse and advanced practice registered nurse with over two decades of experience in healthcare, I’ve spent much of my career helping people navigate some of life’s most important and challenging moments.
But my connection to caring for older adults began long before my own career in healthcare. My mother was a nurse whose career was deeply centered around caring for the elderly. Growing up, I saw firsthand the compassion, patience, and dignity she brought to caring for older adults and their families. Her work left a lasting impression on me and shaped the way I view caring for others.
Years later, I experienced the other side of caregiving when my mother was diagnosed with cancer. I had the privilege of caring for her in my own home and being by her side through the final chapter of her life. That experience gave me a very personal understanding of what families go through when someone they love can no longer safely remain at home.
I understand how difficult that decision can be. It can come with worry, guilt, uncertainty, and an overwhelming number of questions. I founded Scenic Hills Senior Placement because I believe families deserve guidance through that process.
My healthcare background allows me to approach placement with an understanding of care needs and the unique considerations that can arise as older adults transition to a residential setting. Just as importantly, my personal experience as a daughter and caregiver allows me to understand the emotional side of the decision.
My role is not to make the decision for your family. It is to listen, understand your loved one's needs and your family's priorities, help identify appropriate residential options, and guide you through the process so you don't have to navigate it alone.

No. Our placement services are completely free to families. Scenic Hills Senior Placement is compensated by participating senior living communities when a referral results in a placement. There is never a fee charged to the family for our placement services.
How does the placement process work?
How do you decide which communities to recommend?
We begin with a conversation to learn about your loved one and what you are looking for. From there, we identify appropriate facilites, help you compare your options, and can assist with arranging tours. Once you choose a facility, we remain available to help make the transition as smooth as possible.
Recommendations are based on your loved one’s individual circumstances and preferences, including care needs, location, budget, lifestyle, community environment, and availability. Our goal is to help you find an option that is a good fit—not simply provide you with a list of facilities.
Do you work with every residential assisted living facility in the area?
Do I have to choose a facility that you recommend?
No. Scenic Hills Senior Placement works with a network of participating residential assisted living facilites and personal care homes, and our network may not include every facility in your area that could meet your needs or preferences. We are transparent about the facilites with which we have participating relationships so you can make informed decisions.
Absolutely not. You are always free to choose the facility you feel is the best fit for your loved one, whether or not it is a facility we recommend or work with.
Can I stop using your service at any time?
Can you help if my loved one is being discharged from a hospital or rehabilitation facility?
Yes. You may stop using Scenic Hills Senior Placement at any time without cause or penalty.
Yes. We can help families navigate their senior living options when a loved one is preparing to leave a hospital or rehabilitation setting. We can help identify facilites to explore based on the individual’s needs, preferences, and circumstances.
What if I don't know what type of senior living or level of care my loved one needs?
That is completely understandable. Many families are unsure where to begin. We can help you understand the differences between common senior living options and identify facilites for you to explore. We do not provide medical assessments, diagnoses, or clinical treatment, and any determination of clinical eligibility or level of care should be made by the appropriate healthcare professionals and residential assisted living facilities.
Can you help arrange facility tours?
Yes. Once we identify communities that may be a good fit, we can help coordinate tours so you can visit, ask questions, and experience each facility for yourself before making a decision.

We are happy to remain a resource to families as they navigate questions or changes along the way. Any decisions regarding changes in care or clinical needs should be made with the resident, family, healthcare providers, and residential assisted living facility.
